On Teachers' Day holiday, 25 kids aged 9 to 12 years old had an unforgettable experience when they visited the Zalora office to be Junior Apprentices for a half a day. (See the Eventbrite archive here.)
The apprentices had much fun interacting with, and learning from, Zalora’s awesome crew from the: Private Label, Marketing, Data Analytics, Engineering and Warehousing Departments. They even went on a tour of the staff’s actual work spaces!
Junior Fashion E-Commerce Apprentices' Tasks for the Day
After an introduction to each department and the jobs and backgrounds of the Zalora mentors, the children were grouped into teams per department, and worked on projects. For Private Label, they were tasked to design a hypothetical kids’ clothing collection. For Marketing, teammates were asked to create a campaign for the new kids’ line. The Engineering group members had to design a website and create an app for promoting the kids’ clothes. Warehousing had to envision the entire fulfillment process from storing to delivery of clothes and accessories, as well as prepare a packaging station. Finally, the Data Analytics team had to go across all departments to gather data and analyse each group’s expenses.
By the end of the afternoon, both the Zalora mentors and the It Takes An Island coaches were extremely impressed by the children's output. Check out the photos and videos below to see our Junior Apprentices' projects at our pilot company immersion program!
It Takes An Island's Junior Apprentice series is a unique opportunity for your kids to be exposed to and inspired by the amazing work that others do in the real world.
